TV News, Reviews and Thoughts

I mentioned in an earlier post how I was loving the TV again. I have shows that I enjoy and really, I'm spending WAY too much time watching them. So because they are on my mind so much, I thought, why not post again?

Okay, the Academy Awards. Anyone watch? I have to admit, I switched back and forth a couple of times because I was really watching the Amazing Race - which I'll get to in a minute. I was glad to see Sandra Bullock win and Jeff Bridges win, and James Cameron lose. That guy just annoys me. But here's my thing with the Oscar's: Who is in charge of organizing who appears? Miley Cyrus? Really? Demi Moore? What was the last role that she did that was worth anything? There used to be a golden age of Hollywood - and that's why it was a pleasure to see someone like Lauren Bacall because she WAS somebody! Some of these people who presented or were even in the audience, had no reason to be there!

Oh, and another thing? Can someone PLEASE make gowns that don't have to be held up so dang much for people to walk. When Miley Cyrus and whoever that other young actress was, walked out, I mean, she was holding her dress up way too much for it to look normal.

Amazing Race - my favorite. I enjoy playing along while I am watching and wondering if Frank and I were to go on the show, could we do the challenges that they have the contestants do. On Sunday's show, they had to drink this GIANT glass of beer - it was a glass in the shape of a boot (probably life-size). Now, what if someone on your team - or both of you - were against alcohol? Would you be forced to forfeit the race and therefore lose a million dollars because of your principles? That doesn't seem right.

Next, Dancing with the Stars. Did you see the new cast? I don't think that they should allow such an uneven cast. You have an 80 year old ex-astronaut and a former Pussycat Doll who is TRAINED to dance!! How is that fair? And they are going to have to do a major tape delay with Pamela Anderson for fear of a wardrobe malfunction! You know, this show used to be fun with it's B-list celebrities and athletes but now...it's just too much. And I was disappointed that they chose Brooke Burke as the new co-host instead of Melissa Rycroft. I really don't like Brooke...no particular reason, she just looks snooty.

That's just my TV thoughts for now...

Back to Walking Away the Pounds

Week two on Weight Watchers. It's getting a bit better. What I have come to realize with great annoyance is that my body just refuses to let go of any weight unless I exercise. I am SO not an activity type of gal and so the fact that I have to not only eat less but to have to exercise on top of it, well, let's just say that it ticks me off.

So I pulled out the Walk Away the Pounds DVD and for the last few days I have been doing the three mile, high calorie burn walk. I will begrudgingly admit that I do feel good. I still wish that I had the treadmill back or could afford to go to the gym but that's not going to happen.

Actually, yesterday I bought a Dancing With the Stars toning workout DVD. It has 3 fifteen minute routines. I watched it yesterday and well, let's just say that I may very well hurt myself doing even the most "basic" of steps. I was a dancer back in the day but I guess I just don't even think that I could attempt some of these steps now.

Oh, well...I guess I'll just keep walking off those stupid pounds! Dang it!

Snarky Celebrity Roundup...

I think this was sort of a David Spade skit on SNL back in the 90's, but I'd like to bring it back. I admit, my guilty pleasure is reading the Star magazine and going on People.com and watching Entertainment Tonight or E! Celebrities fascinate me; not because they are beautiful or talented - because apparently you no longer have to be talented to BE a celebrity - but because I am a people watcher and it's interesting to see how the other half life and why.

Okay, so first up is my issue with celebrity couples who you NEVER see together. For example, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck. I mean, I cannot remember the last time I saw these two in a picture together. You see Jen all over the place with one of their two daughters but Ben? MIA. Then there's Gwenyth Paltrow and Chris Martin of Coldplay. Honestly, I don't think I have EVER seen a picture of these two together. I see them at different events, alone, but never at the same one together. Why is that?

And the whole David Letterman thing? Let me just say that I think that this has just gotten WAY out of control. I mean, I don't approve of sex in the workplace or cheating on your spouse but it does happen. Like this woman (his assistant) is the first woman EVER to sleep with her boss? I think it's disgusting, personally but the media is focused on the wrong thing here - isn't extorting two million dollars from someone a bad thing anymore?

And the Kardashian's? What exactly are they famous for? Um, their dad was on OJ's murder defense "dream" team and Kim was a celebrity "shopper". Last I checked, that's nothing to even earn a small round of applause for! These three sister's have no talent yet they have their own reality show and you know what? They're not even believable doing that!! One's pregnant by and ex-boyfriend who was a notorious cheat, one married an NBA star after only knowing him a month so that the network would pay for the wedding and the other is famous for a sex tape. If their dad was still alive...well, it's my opinion that right now he's probably turning in his grave. Shame on you, girls!

Oh, and here's a reality show pet peeve of mine (okay, one of many): On Dancing with the Stars, am I the only one that has had enough of these dancers hooking up with the stars? It started after season one when Cheryl Burke was accused of having an affair with MARRIED man Drew Lachey. But the one that takes the cake at this point is that Karina something-or-other! First it was Mario Lopez then it was one of the other dancers now it is a really YOUNG Aaron Carter. Give me a break, please. And to distract the public, now it's like "Oh, Karina was just diagnosed with adult ADHD". REALLY?? Now I care even less.

And Jon & Kate? Please, please, PLEASE just go away. How does being fertile make you famous and why should I have to see you all over the place. Enough. Be gone.

Dancing Controversy???

Okay, so I missed Monday night's episode of Dancing with the Stars. However, here I sit Tuesday afternoon watching some entertainment show and they are crying out that Donny Osmond is cheating.

Okay, let's just stop right there. First off, don't pick on Donny Osmond!! There's just no reason for that! I have loved Donny since I was a little girl and he's quite possibly one of the nicest guys in show biz, so KNOCK IT OFF!! Secondly, what I find funny is that anyone would accuse that. I mean, the man has been in show business since what, the age of five? He is a musician. He does stage shows. He's got a show in Vegas going on right now where he sings and dances. This is no secret. Of course he has a bit of an advantage over some of the others on the show but not huge! I mean, Lance Bass was on a couple of season's ago and was one of the members of N'Sync which was one of the biggest boy bands in the world who were KNOWN for their choreography! Why was he not attacked? Or how about Mel B. aka Scary Spice of the Spice Girls? Another group known for their choreography...why pick on Donny? He's made it no secret that he wanted to be on the show ever since Marie did it. Who wouldn't try and prepare for the show before going on?

I don't know, I think that anyone who excels at this show from the get go gets picked on in one way or another but personally, I think it's a bit excessive to cry out that he's a cheater. Next time someone wants to open their yap on this subject, look at the line up of this show from season's past: Olympic figure skaters (choreography!), Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader (choreography!), boy band dancer/girl band dancer (choreography)...I mean, COME ON!! Use your brain people before you make an accusation...

I'm just saying!
