Okay, so now I have two computers - a desktop and a laptop. The laptop has never been the same since that whole virus thing and so I guess I shouldn't be surprised but yet...I am.
So two computers, same house, same internet. The desktop really does not allow me to do my E-card dropping in bulk (pulling up 10 sites at a time) like my laptop does. If I want to go and click on or pull up one at a time, I'm good, but more than one and it's like the whole thing just freaks out. The laptop cruises through the whole 300 drop process without missing a beat.
My desktop is GREAT for my writing - whether it's in Word or writing here on my blogs or on Examiner. The laptop has a tendency to just erase what I'm writing and I have no idea why. I mean, I'll be typing, I'll have a paragraph or two, and then it's gone. SO FRUSTRATING!! I'm like "What am I hitting and how do I stop???" So the other day I'm on line with my sister and she had to reply to my e-mail like three times because hers kept sending without her hitting "send". So I finally called her because really, the whole e-mail thing was getting frustrating. We have the same computers and so I was glad to hear that mine isn't the only one that does funky things like that.
I can no longer install any programs on the desktop which is frustrating but the ones that I want to use are too frustrating to do on the laptop because of the mystery-of-the-moving-cursor-moving-or-deleting-my-stuff-thing.

Electronics really complicate my life. Oh, and my microwave died. Not really computer related, but it annoyed me, too!
Okay so remember how back in November I participated in National Novel Writing Month? And how I completed it? And how I can get a free, professionally printed and bound copy of my book? Well, like so many other things in my life right now, that's not going well.
I finally finished the editing stage, I designed my cover and was ready to submit. Well I typed it up as a Word document, they want it in a PDF format. Okay, fine, I found a free website that converts it. So I convert it and submit. Not good enough. Apparently the trim sizing is off and they will not accept it. My copy that I converted is formatted for 8.5 x 11 and my book size is 5 x 8. I have NO IDEA how to change this. No one knows how either, apparently.
So I sent an inquiry to CreateSpace who is handling the whole thing and they don't ANSWER technical stuff like that. I was told to refer to the help manual that came with my software! What manual? What software? I went back to the converter website but that's all they do is convert! I am so BEYOND frustrated right now that it's not even funny.
From what I can gather, it seems to me that I am supposed to BUY some sort of software that does this and let me just say how that is NOT happening right now with Frank still out of work. I don't know how we're going to pay bills this month let alone purchase some stupid software because of a minor technicality!
GGGRRRR..... I just want to hit something. I mean, really, really hit something. I mean, I am doing all that I can to bring in money and it's still not enough. The weather won't cooperate and my husband is slowly sinking in to his own kind of madness and depression because of the time off. Not a good combination to have us both home alone feeling this way. One of us is gonna crack soon and I think it's going to be me.
Hello, friends! Just wanted to let you know that my computer crashed this weekend in a BIG way. It seemed to stem from my using Mozilla but I can't be 100% sure.
I am EXTREMELY blessed with some wonderful friends. The type of friends that don't mind if you call after 10 pm crying that your computer crashed and are in need of assistance. After trying unsuccessfully for several hours to fix the problem myself (and we know how uneducated I am!) I called my dear friend Cathleen because I know that her husband is a tech-genius. So there we were, late Saturday night on the phone trying to diagnose my problem. Steve talked me through some things but the bottom line was that he would need to be seeing all of these things himself. Even though they were getting ready to go out of state for Thanksgiving, he offered to come by on Sunday to help me. I baked him a cake to show my love and appreciation.
After three hours of intensive fighting with the computer, he got it up and running for me and there aren't enough words (or cake!) for me to thank him. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU, STEVE!! YOU TOTALLY ROCK!!
I just wanted to let my e-card buddies know that I am sorry that I have not been around for a couple of days dropping and commenting, I will be back to all of that tomorrow. It's just so good to even be back on-line! Yeah!!!

It has been well-established that I am not very tech-savvy. I know just enough to be dangerous. Yesterday my computer was just being annoying. It was slow beyond belief, it kept whirring at some high pitch that would slow it down even more, I mean, it was just plain crazy.
Now, I may not know a lot, but I know that there are some things I can do to try and help. First, I do a disc clean up. A basic one. While doing this, I realize that you can do a more in-depth clean by getting rid of programs that you do not use. Okay, great. I do that. Then I use the Advanced Windows Care to optimize my system and then did a disc defragmenting. I am advised to restart the computer from all of the adjustments I made so that they can take effect. All in all, I've been at it almost an hour. I start up the computer again and things are running beautifully. Until...
There is only one real program that Frank uses on the computer other than the internet, and that is Spider Solitaire. Well, it's gone. I mean G-O-N-E. I did a file/disc search and it's gone. Somehow when I did the more in-depth disc cleanup, that went bye-bye. Okay, I can fix this. I know I can. I do a System Restore and get the computer back to where it was TWO days ago (just to play it safe) and sit back with my fingers crossed. I wait, I sign back in, wait for everything to load and...
It's gone.

I'm freaking out more than Frank is at this point. I don't understand how this can be and I don't know enough to do anything about it. AND on top of all that, the computer is running like crap again because I put it back the way it was. So NOW I have to do it all AGAIN!! Feeling cocky, I decide to do a security sweep too and get rid of any viruses or spyware that's lingering around and that took two hours to do!
And in the end...still no Spider Solitaire. If anyone cares to come over and find it and get it back on my computer, I would LOVE to cook you a meal. Call me!
