Well, no such luck. A whole day of agonizing and waiting and it was all for nothing. I'm pretty bummed.
I was on a bunch of the discussion boards and took comfort in the fact that there were 4,000 other people feeling the same exact way that I was. The funky thing about it all is that it was all based on the pitch. I know that that is my weakness. I wonder if there is a service out there where someone will write your pitch for you?? Is there such a thing, maybe?
So for tonight, I am still an unpublished author who is feeling like a loser. But even in that I am blessed - Nick saw me crying and went to get me Chinese food for dinner.
Blessed, indeed.

Nothing worthwhile comes easy, Stacey. And unfortunately, rejection is a huge part of getting published. Push ahead, pally! Push ahead. Keep writing and pushing your book. You have to push that book to everyone and everywhere and someday it will get noticed. Don't give up!!!!!
Just DON'T GIVE UP. Never ever EVER give up. If you want to be a published author, you WILL be. Work hard and you can do it!
I will write a pitch for you anytime. course it'id hep if i could rite.
Seriously though, I am a Journalism drop-out. What better cred could I have now a days?
Peace, Gods grace will bless you.
Well, I think it totally sucks that Amazon let all the contestants down by missing their deadline without even acknowledging it. THEY are the losers, not you.
Sadly, this type of callousness isn't uncommon in the publishing world. I don't think even the most published authors are immune to having their feelings hurt by this industry - without feelings, none of us would be able to write anything worthwhile. So let yourself be bummed, enjoy your Chinese food and your family and just remember that 1) tomorrow is another day and 2) no matter what happens, it's not a reflection on your talent, it's just someone's opinion. And you know that saying about opinions, right? They're about on par with certain bodily orifices, in that everybody has one.
Hang in there Stace :)
Take comfort in all the great writers who got rejected over and over. Google it. It'll make you feel better.
Lin is right Don't give Up. Sometimes when you try too hard there is a problem. But in a case like this you just need to plug along and wait for the right opportunity.
Hi Stace! I got your email and will definitely be responding soon - just a little backed up. Let me begin by saying that the process of winning and querying is super long for most and super filled with rejections. Every author feels the "I'm a loser" moment, but please keep moving on with it. I, for one, have to take a serious break after a rejection but it's the nature of the business. Take heart.
