Don't Hate Me But...

I don't like "Twilight".

There, I've said it.

I cannot even begin to tell you how all of this publicity and hooplah has annoyed the snot out of me - and has been for a long, long time. Nick read the whole series and kept trying to get me to do it. Now I'll admit that I jumped on board the Harry Potter train back in the day but stopped reading after book four (or was it five?) because it got too dark and too confusing for me and I just lost interest. I DID, however, read the last two chapters of the last book - just so that I could know how it all ended. That made Nick CRAZY!

So when all of the Twilight mania started, he asked me to read it. I declined. He asked again and again and again until it just became the principle of the thing - I said no, and I'm not going to do it. When the first movie came out, I was asked to see the movie, at least. No. Okay, then the subject of the book came up again. No. I had to stop sending flairs on Facebook because all there seemed to be were Twilight flairs! I'm not on Team Edward or Team Jacob. I don't like vampires.

You know, there was a time when that was a GOOD thing. Now if you say that, you are looked at as if you are some sort of freak. It's blasphemy! Give me a break. It's a teen story - a teen LOVE story - and I am a 40 year old woman who finds no joy in it. Sorry. I know that there are many women my age who LOVE this stuff. Good for you. Read and be well. It is JUST. NOT. MY. THING. Get over it.

So I will NOT be going to the movie. I will NOT be reading the books. There will be no TEAM gear to be found anywhere near me. Personally, I don't find the lead actor guy so unbelievably handsome or the chick to be beautiful - although in her case, it could be the Joan Jett mullett she's sporting right now for a movie. Either way, I'm not impressed with any of it. The coverage on it is almost as obnoxious as the Michael Jackson dying coverage. Were you aware tha Michael Jackson died? Five months ago?

Crazy...

I am right with you. I can't stand any of it, and I am getting sick of hearing about it! I don't know how anyone can get excited over vampires! VAMPIRES! Of all things! I know I am getting old, but even the handsome actors fail to impress me.

Thankfully, my teen daughter and son are alot like me. They weren't into the Harry Potter craze, and they definitely aren't into this, either.

At my volunteer gig, there is a gal there who is SOOOOO into the whole New Moon thing. She went to the movie two night in a row, and wore the shirt, and fixed her eyes up with smoky makeup, and was "over the moon" with excitement (pardon the pun) :)

LOL! I am totally not interested in Twilight and have never thought about watching the movie. Fortunately for me, there is no one on my side urging me to watch the movie or read the book. :)

Hi Stace... I'm not into Twilight either... everyone assures me that if I read the books I will love them... but I don't have time to read them right now... it's just not a priority in my life.

If I were going to read vampire books I would finish the Vampire chronicles by Anne Rice... I looooove those vampires. When I saw Twilight I was so disappointed and it just left me longing for Lestat and Louis and I had to watch Interview With A Vampire again to get my fix. I just don't think any other vampires can compare.... they were the original sexy romantic vampires.... and they are adults... not high school children.

Yo,Beeg what's with all the hater rage. You know I love me some Twilight. Never thought I would but I totally do. Yes, the movies are good, the books are much better, Edward Cullen is sexy in his own way BUT I have to just tell you that I am on Team Jacob cause he is sooooo yummy. You were right about that whole cougar thing. It's kinda like you with Joe Jonas!! lol

I am one of those 37ish women who saw new moon opening day, and I am team jacob all the way! That said, I don't push it on anyone. We're all entitled to our own opinions, right?

I couldn't have said it better myself, thank you ;) Thank goodness none of my 2 teens are into it either. We watched the first movie out of curiosity. Won't be watching any more of it, enough is enough!

We read them and guess what? We don't care for either team either. And if you read the last book it is enough to make you sick! that seemingly smart people who have lived for freakin' evah can't figure out the chick needs blood then the damn guy who lusted and made out with her wants her unborn child *gag me gross* ;)
You aren't missing much.
I don't think the actors are the be-all-end-all either. :P My 16yo said it best- they are supposed to be drop dead lick the floor gorgeous and they aren't even swoon a little stick out your tongue and drool a little sexy.

Thanks for that. I thought it was because I was old that I totally didn;t get any of this twilight stuff - I just figured it was for teenagers - which I guess it really is - the books ARE young adult fiction, aren't they? (I really don't know how they are categorized). As to the guy, again, perhaps it's my age but I don't get where he is all that and a bag of chips.

I am with you. No desire to read it, see it, whatever. I am sick of hooplah over stupid crap. Maybe if we paid HALF the attention to real matters that we do to stupid stuff, our kids would be more educated and compassionate.
