There are no words to describe some people...

Imagine that you are a four year old child of divorced parents.

Imagine that at age 5 your mom (who you live with) remarries.

Imagine that your new step-father is not very nice but now you have a roof over your head and food on the table and so you are told to be thankful.

Imagine that over the years you are told that your biological father is a junkie who is dying of AIDS. You are then adopted by your step-father and thankful to have a dad in your life because your real one is pretty much M.I.A.

Imagine years of abuse - mostly verbal, but some physical - and being told constantly that you are "in the way".

Imagine losing your mother and only having an un-caring step-father to rely on.

Imagine finding out at the age of 28 that not only is your biological father alive and well and wanting to see you, but that all of those years ago he was bullied and blackmailed in to giving you up???

Imagine finally having a family around you who has not only wanted to see you but can't wait until they can freely walk over and see you tomorrow.

True story...

It's sad but it happens. My husband's brother was told that his father was a no good SOB and that he did not want him. What is heartbreaking is that he actually believed the lies not knowing the pain the old man went through. The good thing was that he was treated well by his stepfather unlike the child in this post.

Wow! Sounds like a movie of the week...So sad for a child of any age to live through...but hopefully YAY for the happy ending :)

even though my kids' father was a total waste of space, i never talked bad about him to my kids. i knew that they would grow up and make their own decision about him, and they have. my son still holds the anger and questions inside of him about the whys. but that is something that only he can figure out.

this is sad and unfortunately happens way too much in the world.

have a great day...hugz!

oh gosh. We really do need to have some hair band night and chat some time. I could give you stories that you would think I made up, both for me and my nieces and nephews. Tears my heart out.
