Oy...I'm old!

So with five weeks to go until the graduation I am officially in panic mode - trying to accomplish all kinds of things to make everything look nice. That means every project that I have even THOUGHT about in the last ten years, needs to be done by the graduation.

Today's project involved going out and buying a new lawn mower. Why? I mean, we had one; it was old, but it worked. Sort of. Nick normally does the mowing but lately, he's away from home. A LOT. So if I don't want to have to use a machete to get to my car, I really should mow the darn lawn myself. We went to Lowe's, talked to a very nice salesman and VOILA! We now, for the first time in our almost 22 years together, have a brand-spanking-new lawn mower. Yippee!!

We got it home, Frank got it set up and away I went. Now, I didn't pick one of those sissy, self-propelled mowers. Well, actually, I really, really, REALLY wanted one but it was a lot more money so we got a lovely mulching push-mower. It was 90 degrees outside and I decide that I HAVE to mow the lawn. I mean, we have the technology, so I must do it.

Oy.

I drank about five glasses of water and felt as if I'd had SEVERAL heart attacks but...My lawn looks beautiful!! I'm sure tomorrow I am going to be cursing the day I was born because really, I'm too old and out of shape for this. I had to stop more times than I care to admit to.

Let's see what the morning brings...

Update and Getting Old...

Okay so the whole bank issue was settled, right? Well, tonight we tried once again to order this stuff for Frank and again, the transaction was denied. So we were getting ready to call the toll free number when our phone rang. It was the bank. Apparently there was "suspicious action" on our card. Guess what it was?

Our transaction actually going through FOUR TIMES!!!

So, we had to deny the charges, they blocked out my card, are sending me a new one and advised us to call the drum place and get it straightened out with them. We called them several times and I think, I THINK it is all fixed. Meanwhile, there were several minutes of heart palpitations while the bank lady was explaining all of the action on our card! Yikes!

After dinner I took Nick out driving. He is going for his road test tomorrow. I'm not getting overly excited about it because a lot of kids fail their first time out. I'm trying to be positive for his sake but I'm not holding my breath, you know? So we're out driving all over town ,parking, doing three-point-turns and I'm sitting there thinking "God am I old!" I mean, my child could quite possibly have his license tomorrow. He is a senior in high school. He is planning on marrying his girlfriend. I'm sorry but...I'm just too damn young for all of this! Someone make it stop!!

So we get home and I'm calming down and one of my oldest and dearest friends from back home calls me. We laugh like a bunch of loons whenever we're on the phone. Well, she was calling to tell me that at the end of the month, she has to have a hysterectomy. I was blown away. I mean, once again, we are too damn young for this! She was in good spirits and we talked about all of the ways that this is going to be a good thing, but the reality is that 40 is just too young to be thinking about menopause!

So if this whole stupid drum transaction isn't the death of me, apparently being 40 will! Oh, to be young once again!!

So Weird...

So I'm going to a graduation ceremony today. The local homeschool support group that I belong to is having their celebration today and I am going because next year, I will have a graduate.

How weird is that?

I wanted to go to see how it's all done and see what sort of things I need to start thinking about. I can't even believe the time is here because I still look at Nick as if he is still young! And I think of myself along those same lines! How is it even possible that I have a child who will be graduating next year??

Excuse me, now. I have to go lie down and have a breakdown...
