Okay, this one has it all - action, adventure, comedy and romance. It's a bit dated but still one of my favorites. Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner were GREAT together in this one and I think that out of all of their paiMichael Douglas is a drifter/opportunist who swoops in to save her early on in the movie when she is nearly killed. At that time in his career, Michael Douglas was perfect for this role - not too old, not too young - and totally believable in his swashbuckling role as hero. Kathleen Turner's character, Joan Wilder, is a bit quiet, naive and repressed and this adventure really brings her out of her shell. They have one adventure after another while traipsing around Columbia - narrowly escaping death at every turn.
My favorite part of this movie is when they are captured and surrounded at gunpoint by a drug lord and his "gang" and Michael Douglas' character (Jack Colton) turns to Joan and says "Okay, Joan Wilder, write us out of this one!" and suddenly this very menacing, angry drug lord is like "Joan Wilder? THE Joan Wilder?" and turns out that he is a HUGE fan of hers. It is hysterical!
This is a great movie for sitting with your hubby/boyfriend/significant other or with the girls. It's just a fun flick. Enjoy!
